Six students and two adults went to Lincoln, Nebraska this summer for the International Thespian Festival, which is the equivalent of Nationals. We stayed in the dorms at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and had an AMAZING week! Our students performed their Individual Events for a panel of judges (all had previously received superiors at the state level) and although none of them placed, the feedback they received was an exciting wake up call to the work that still needs to be done, and they scored VERY well. Throughout the week, each student (as well as Mrs. Castiglione and Mrs. Michaelson) participated in 10 workshops chosen from a list of over 150 choices. They ranged from Projections for the stage, Department Marketing, Acting/Directing/Musical Theatre/Choreography/Character Development, etc (students) and are bringing back a HUGE amount of new information to the rest of the department. We also saw nine full-length productions from all over the country, as well as countless one-acts. The kids were so excited, that we've decided to enter our fall play (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged) for adjudication for possible performance at next years Nationals! In addition to that, three of our rising seniors were able to auditions for 50 colleges in one audition. All three students (Jade Kaiser, Katie Brown-Greaves, and Nikki Law) received multiple callbacks to schools all over the country! It was an incredible week, and the students represented Los Al amazingly well. Although it was their first Nationals experience, they learned so much, and are incredibly amped to get started on the next school year. We are so excited to begin preparations for this years State and Nationals!
