On Sunday, June 1, 2014, the cast and crew of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee attended the 44th Annual MACY (Music and Art Commendation for Youth), which is a So CA high school musical theatre awards ceremony at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center. The board, who came to see our show in February, saw over 40 shows in Orange County. Today, our awesome students received the following awards:
Alejandro Brewer- Bright Spot medal Michael Schultz- Special Recognition medal Courtney Manley- Special Recognition medal Travis Baker- Achievement medal Bridget DeMaria- Achievement medal Alonso Law- Achievement medal Katie Gerdts- Outstanding Achievement trophy Sydney DeMaria- Outstanding Achievement trophy Ryan Rogers- Highest Achievement trophy Ryan Rogers- Final nominee for Best Comedian in a Musical And....the production won the "Heart and Soul" trophy. The awards states: The Heart and Soul Award goes to a musical production in a small theatre setting with scarce scenery and lighting but with wonderful characters and voices with large heart and soul. There are VERY few schools whose entire cast walked away with recognition from the MACY's panel, and these amazing students are over the moon with their recognition for their amazing production.
